Day 01:

Leave Salalah in northern direction.
Pass Thumrait and drive on an off road track to Shisr, believed to be the site of the “Lost City of Ubar”. Ubar was mentioned in the Holy Quran and there have been many speculations as to the whereabouts of this city buried in the sand. The discovery at Shisr was made in the early 1990’s. Visit the ruins of Ubar located along the ancient frankincense trail. From Ubar continue to the desert and enjoy an exciting drive through the spectacular Fasad sand dunes more than 200 meters in height and located at the outskirts of Rub Al Khali (The Empty Quarter).

Camp overnight in the desert

Day 02:

Cross the desert and reach Mudayy.
Drive through semi desert on gravel track through woodland to the Qamr Mountains. Reach the spectacular new road that offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and leads down to Wadi Ashawa and Mughsayl. Stop at Mughsayl Beach with its blow holes, a natural wonder where the sea bursts dramatically up in regular intervals during high tide. Before returning to Salalah we have a last stop at the frankincense trees.
